Meet the Counselors

Mary McInerney is a full time professional school counselor at Glebe. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a liberal arts degree.  Early in her career she worked as a middle school teacher in Fairfax County. She earned her Masters Degree in School Counseling from Virginia Tech and enjoyed working as a middle school counselor and a counselor in Arlington’s GED program  before moving to the elementary level. Kayla Powell is the part-time professional school counselor at Glebe. In addition to working at Glebe, she will be working part-time at Claremont Immersion Elementary School. Before coming to APS she worked in sleep research with the Army, and in patient care with Virginia Hospital Center. She is a “military brat,” but luckily moved to Arlington for her 8th-grade year and stayed until she graduated high school, here in APS. She received a B.S. in Psychology from William & Mary and completed her Master’s degree locally at Marymount University. This will be her first year working as a professional school counselor.
