Hello Families and Students,
Here are some links to websites that support mathematics.
Our current math textbook, Math Expressions, can be viewed through Blackboard. (Another way to access Blackboard is also on Glebe’s homepage in the top right corner.) Use your child’s ID number (lunch number) and birthday (mmddyy) to login. Once you enter the site, go to the top “For Students” and the Language Arts page opens up. The Math tab is at the top right of Language Arts. All of the classroom activity books are on this page. Students can hit the green speaker icon next to the text they are reading to have the book read aloud. Homework and remembering pages can also be found on this site.
The second link provides you with the most recently adopted state standards, the 2009 Mathematics Standards of Learning for Virginia Public Schools. The next three sites provide activities that engage in play while building skills.
A first rate math resource for families, students and teachers has been created by the National Council for Teaching Mathematics. Not only does it have activities, lessons, and standards, but it has links to many more websites.
Another plentiful site is mathplayground.com. This site is filled with games that build fluency in many areas. It’s a great site to explore and just have fun with math. Please note, the games are being highlighted here not the learning videos. Please use Math Expressions to help with understanding.
Families, please feel free to share these resources with tutors or anyone who is helping your child with math.
