Reading at Glebe

We encourage you to use the links to the left to find some good articles and fun ways to incorporate literacy into your daily schedule. Make reading an important part of your child’s day. Children should have the opportunity to be read to, as well as reading “just right” books themselves. Just 20 minutes of reading a day is beneficial in so many ways. It provides “brain food” or experiences that help students make connections between what they already know about the topic of the story and its content. The new information learned through reading strengthens their growing network of knowledge. It also gives students time to practice the skill of reading while building up their stamina. Plus students who read more perform better academically and struggle less in school!
