Philosophy and Belief Statement

Glebe Elementary School Counseling Program

The professional school counselors at Glebe believe:

  • All students have the ability to achieve and be successful based on their unique developmental needs
  • All students have dignity and worth and have the right to be served by a comprehensive school counseling program
  • All students ethnic, cultural, racial, sexual differences and special needs are honored and considered when planning and implementing the school counseling program
  • All students have access to the professional school counselor.

The Glebe comprehensive school counseling program will:

  • Align with national, state and county standards
  • Advocate for the needs of all students
  • Collaborate with parents, staff and community representatives
  • Design, implement, assess and improve the school counseling program using data
  • Collaborate with the counseling advisory committee members to promote the academic, career and personal/social development of each students
  • Be evaluated annually coordinating with the county counseling supervisor and site principal on specific goals and student competencies

The Glebe school counselors will:

  • Abide by the ASCA ethical code
  • Regularly participate in professional development activities to enhance school counseling skills and maintain quality services

 

Glebe School Counseling Program Mission Statement

The mission of the Glebe Elementary School counseling program is to advocate for the healthy development of each students’ personal/social, academic and career needs through the comprehensive program.  Each student will have equitable access to individual and group counseling and classroom guidance.  The professional school counselors will contribute to students’ knowledge and skills enabling students to become successful and responsible members of society.
